Handwoven Wool Frazadas, #22
Frazada, meaning 'blanket' in Spanish are hand-woven by women from the indigenous Aymara group of the Andes in Peru. Weavers create colorful strips from hand-sheared sheep's wool on a backstrap loom. Then, two pieces are sewn together to create a frazada.
Made of a soft wool, these blankets also work well as colorful rugs. Since each blanket is handmade there are variations in size. They are all roughly 5' x 5' squares with the approximate sizes of each blanket listed below.
